Moving my IS2000 Database from one PC to Another

If moving a SQL database, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Close the application and make sure no drivers are running.  This can be done by checking the processes in task manager for the IS2000.exe, 12000.exe, 19000.exe processes. 
  2. Copy the Data Folder located in C:\Program Files\IS2000 
  3. Make a copy of the ldf and mdf files, unless otherwise specified these files can be located in the default SQL directory. 
  4. On the new machine, install the software.  Prior to starting the software, replace the existing data folder with the data folder copied from the previous installation. 
  5. Attach the ldf and mdf files using SQL Management Studio. 
  6. From the C:\Program Files\IS2000 folder execute the Configuration executable. 
  7. Set the “Hide SQL” login to a value of False. 
  8. Start the application, when prompted for the SQL information enter the name of the SQL server, if SQL has been installed with a named instance please make sure to include the instance name, for example servername\sqlexpress. 
  9. Enter the Database name, this is the name given when you attached the ldf and mdf files. 
  10. Enter the Username, this is the SQL user for example sa. 
  11. Enter the corresponding password. 
  12. If hardware was previously installed and configured for your other system, please go into hardware manager, highlight the driver.   
  13. Unlock the pad lock located in the upper left hand corner to allow for editing of the screen.   
  14. From the drivers properties change the computer name to reflect the computer name of the new server.  If this step is not completed the driver will not start. 


If moving a Microsoft Access database, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Close the application and make sure no drivers are running.  This can be done by checking the processes in task manager for the IS2000.exe, 12000.exe, 19000.exe processes. 
  2. Copy the Data Folder located in C:\Program Files\IS2000. 
  3. Start the application. 
  4. If hardware was previously installed and configured for your other system, please go into hardware manager, highlight the driver.   
  5. Unlock the pad lock located in the upper left hand corner to allow for editing of the screen.   
  6. From the drivers properties change the computer name to reflect the computer name of the new server.  If this step is not completed the driver will not start.
