Badge Designer: Adding a Text Field to a New / Existing Badge Design

Adding a Text Field

•  Click on the Access menu and select Personnel Manager.
•  Unlock the pad lock to allow editing of the Personnel Manager module.
•  Click on the ID Badging tab located in Personnel Manager.
•  Click on the “Edit Badge Layout Design button to create a badge layout design.
•  To add a Text field to a new or already existing badge design layout, click on the text box icon located on the vertical toolbar on the left.  
•  Click on the desired location on the badge design layout to place the text field.
•  With the text box selected, modify the values on the right in the text properties box.
•  (Name):  The name used to define the object, this item can not be changed and will default with the next available object name.
•  Caption:  The text displayed in the objects title bar.  This information will appear only on the badge design layout.  If a DataLink field is assigned to the text field the information pertaining to the field will be pulled from the database.
•  Width: The width of the object.
•  Height:  The height of the object. (Centimeter * 100)
•  Left:  The distance between the left edge of the object and the left edge of the badge. (Centimeter * 100)
•  Top: The distance between the top edge of the object and the top edge of the badge.
•  BarCode:  Sets whether or not this text object will be used as a Bar Code.
•  BackStyle:  Indicates whether a Label or the background of a shape is transparent or opaque.
•  BackColor:  The background color used to display text and graphics in an object.
•  BorderStyle:  Returns / sets the border style for an object, if the operator wishes for there to be no border around a text box this value can be set to false.
•  ForeColor:  The foreground color used to display text and graphics in an object.
•  AutoFit:  AutoFit will auto size the Font Size of the text object to fit within the defined text area depending on the amount of characters.
•  Alignment:  Returns / Sets the alignment of a text box.  The operator has the ability to select Left, Right or Center values.
•  FontName:  Return / Sets the font for the text object, these fonts are based on fonts installed in Windows.
•  FontSize:  Returns / Sets the font size for the text object.
•  FontBold:  Allows for text to have bold attributes when printing and displaying.
•  FontUnderline:  Under lines the characters typed in the text box.
•  FontItalic:  Italicizes the characters typed in the text box.
•  Rotation:  Number of degrees used to rotate the object.
•  DataLink:  A value that binds an object to a database field.
•  Once a text field has had all the properties modified, a copy of the field can be done by clicking on the copy icon.  This will allow the operator to copy all the attributes of the field and change only those items pertaining to the new text field.
•  To paste the copied field, click on the paste icon.  The placement of the pasted field will appear next to the original field copied and will need to be moved to the desired location.
