Assigning Card Types

Personnel Manager -> Access Control Tab -> Card Type

  • Unlock the pad lock to allow editing of the Personnel module.
  • Click on the Group Edit icon.
  • Click on the Card Type Templates tab.
  • Click on the green plus sign to create a new Card Template.
  • Template Name – Click in the text field to the right of the Template Name tag to enter a Template Name for the Card Template.
  • Picture – Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Picture tag to select a picture icon to be associated with the Card Template.  If the Picture should be assigned in the Card Template place a check mark to the left of the Picture tag.  The picture will display to the left of the Card holder names linked to the Card Template.  
  • Activate Date – Select a date using the calendar feature by clicking on the drop down arrow to the right of the Activate Date tag.  Select the desired date from the calendar.  To go to the current date on the calendar click on the Today label at the bottom of the calendar.  
  • De_Activate Date - Select a date using the calendar feature by clicking on the drop down arrow to the right of the De_Activate Date tag.  Select the desired date from the calendar.  To go to the current date on the calendar click on the Today label at the bottom of the calendar.  
  • Card Number 1 Format – If the VertX hardware platform is installed is necessary to associate a card format with each card number assigned.  To assign a card number format to card number 1 click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Card Number 1 Format tag and select the format to be assigned to the Card Type Template.
  • Card Number 2 Format – If the VertX hardware platform is installed is necessary to associate a card format with each card number assigned.  To assign a card number format to card number 1 click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Card Number 2 Format tag and select the format to be assigned to the Card Type Template.
  • Trigger Code – Trigger Codes are used to make a card record unique to perform specific system tasks using Mercury Triggers and Macros.  An individual Trigger Code can be assigned to one (1) or more card holder records.  To assign a Trigger Code to the Card Type Template, click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Trigger Code tag and select the Trigger Code number to be assigned to the Card Type Template.
  • Company – To Assign a Company to the Card Type Template, click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Company tag and select the desired Company.  Please note: Companies must have previously been created using the Employee Info Tab in Personnel Manager.
  • Department - To Assign a Department to the Card Type Template, click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Department tag and select the desired Department.  Please note: Departments must have previously been created using the Employee Info Tab in Personnel Manager.
  • Work Number – Enter a work telephone number, this number will automatically populate on all records associated with this Card Type Template.
  • Address 1 – Enter a work Address, this Address will automatically populate on all records associated with this Card Type Template.
  • Address 2 - Enter a work Address, this Address will automatically populate on all records associated with this Card Type Template.
  • User Limit – If using the Mercury hardware platform, the operator can designate how many card uses the card holder can use.  The card can be configured to be used anywhere from 1 – 255 uses.  If this number is set to a value of 0, the system will automatically utilize the Activate and De_Activate Dates.  To configure the Use Limit, click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Use Limit flag and select the desired number of uses.  Please note this number is consider on single controllers only, the count is restarted when the card holder crosses controllers and is host dependant.
  • Badge Type – Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Badge Type to select the badge design to associate with Card Type Template.  Each time a badge is printed; the associated Badge Type will be automatically selected and printed.
  • Access Levels – Place a check next to the Region(s) the Card Type Template will have access level(s) assigned.  To assign access level(s), click to the right of the Access Levels tag and place a check to the left of all access level(s) to be assigned to the Card Type Template.  Once the access level(s) have been assigned to the Card Type Template, all card holders with the Card Type Template will be automatically assigned to the access level(s) designated.
  • Permissions – Place a check mark to the left to all Profiles that should have access to view / modify / assign the Card Type Template.  By default all profiles will have access to the Card Type Template on creation.  Any Profile that should not have access should have the box unchecked.  The Admin Profile cannot have access removed.

 

Personnel Manager -> Access Control Tab -> Assigning a Card Type Template

  • Assign the card type template, when adding the card holder.
  • Select the appropriate Card Type from the drop down pick list. 
  • If assigning the card type template after a record has been added, locate the personnel record, this can be accomplished by using the sort function or the find feature.
  • Once the personnel record has been located, select the appropriate Card Type from the drop down pick list.

Note: Setting the record to a Card Type of Lost or Stolen will automatically deselect the Activate Card option rendering the card unusable.
