KATHERINE SCHWEIT

Katherine Schweit is one of the nation's leading mass shooting experts, creator of the FBI’s Active Shooter Program, and author of two books, Stop the Killing: How to End the Mass Shooting Crisis (2023 2nd Edition) and How to Talk About Guns with Anyone.
After the murder of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook elementary school in 2012, Schweit was promoted to the FBI executive ranks and joined a violence prevention team as part of a White House National Security Council effort within then-Vice President Joe Biden’s office. There, she worked with leaders from other federal agencies gathering best practices from federal and private industry experts, nationally and internationally. She was part of the crisis team responding to incidents, including the shootings at the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Pentagon, and the Navy Yard in the Washington D.C. area.

CEO and Investor
Joe was the former CEO of HID Global, where he successfully grew the company exponentially. After 8 years with HID, he went on to be the President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY's Global Technology Division.
With a passion for investing in electronic security manufacturing related companies with emphasis on access control, he then founded ACRE, LLC in Sept. 2012. ACRE went on to acquire 9 additional companies to create the largest independent access control-oriented security systems provider and sold the business to Triton Equity partners in March 2021.
Joe retired in June, 2022 having built ACRE into a highly profitable $300M business with 550 employees.
Joe is now the CEO of Bibliotheca.
LT. MIKE BETZLER
Saddleback College Police Department
Michael Betzler is the Police Lieutenant for Saddleback College in Southern California.
He has over 35 years of law enforcement and security experience serving police departments and corporate organizations.
Prior to Saddleback College, Michael gained experience as the Special Enforcement Bureau Lieutenant for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. During the 29 years Michael was there, he gained experience in SWAT, narcotics, gangs, hazardous devices and emergency management.
In addition for working for the Sheriff’s Department, Michael also gained experience on the corporate side. He worked as a private security consultant for Raytheon and Kroll Advisory and the Director of Security for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
