IS2000 Maintenance FAQs

1. What is IS2000 Maintenance?

When you order IS2000, you receive 1 year of technical support (non-engineering) as well as 1 year of updates and upgrades to any new versions released.

If you wish to receive support and upgrades after the 1 year period, you must purchase Maintenance for IS2000.

Maintenance for IS2000 entitles you to:

  • One year of technical support (non-engineering).
  • One year of product updates and upgrades of your IS2000 software from the date of activation of the subscription.

Suppose you ordered an IS2000 server license on January 1st, 2011.  You will then be entitled to receive support until December 31st, 2011.  You will also receive upgrades to any new versions of IS2000 released until December 31st, 2011. If you wish to continue to receive support and upgrades beyond the first year, order Maintenance for IS2000. This will entitle you to receive support and upgrades for another year, i.e. until December 31st, 2012.

2. What is an 'Upgrade'?

Based on market research and customer feedback, our developers come out with major and minor improvements in the IS2000 software periodically. These could be in the form of new features or improvements in speed or performance.  Whenever such improvements are made, a new version of IS2000 is launched. You should always upgrade to the new version to get the most out of IS2000.

3. What is an 'Update'?

An update is an interim release or patch to an existing software program.  Updates are sometimes referred to as service releases. They are released to add small new features, fixes to known issues in the software and/or to ensure compatibility with 3rd party products and operating systems when required. They are small releases and are identified with number extensions within the same version number. For example, if the current version is IS2000 8.0 then IS2000 8.0.1 is an update.  Updates are only provided to currently shipping IS2000 products.

4. How Many Maintenance Subscriptions do I Need to Purchase and how is the Price Determined?

You need to purchase Maintenance for each IS2000 Server License.  Typically there is only one IS2000 Server License per site.  Pricing for the Maintenance Subscription is based on the IMRON product(s) you have and the number of readers and modules licensed at the site. This information is used to calculate an annual fee for your specific firm.

5. How do I Purchase Maintenance for IS2000?

You can visit our online store and select the Maintenance for IS2000 subscription located within the IS2000 Solutions Category.  Simply input license information from the IS2000 ‘help about’ screen into the online store and the price will be automatically computed.

6. When and How will my Maintenance Get Activated?

When you purchase Maintenance for IS2000, you will receive an email confirmation of your order, which will confirm that the maintenance is active.

7. How Long is a Maintenance Subscription Valid?

A Maintenance Subscription is valid for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase of the product, or 1 year from the date of purchasing the Maintenance Subscription. This period of 1 year is known as the Active Subscription period.

8. Should I Purchase (or Renew) the Maintenance Subscription before the End of the Current 1-year Maintenance Subscription Period?

Every Maintenance Subscription is valid for 1 year.

In order to purchase Maintenance for IS2000 at the best price, you must always order them before your current Maintenance Subscriptions expire (the new subscriptions will be activated only after the previous ones expire).  If you purchase a Maintenance Subscription after your current Maintenance Subscription has expired you will have to pay a higher price to purchase the subscription.

If you bought IS2000 on January 1st, 2011, then your free 1-year maintenance subscription will expire on December 31st, 2011. To receive support and upgrades after this period, you must renew the Maintenance Subscription anytime before December 31st, 2011. If you purchase Maintenance for IS2000 on November 14th, 2011, it will remain in the pipeline and will be activated only on January 1st, 2012. You will therefore enjoy support and upgrades for another full year from January 1st, 2012 to December 31st, 2012.

9. What if I do not Purchase a Maintenance Subscription?

When you purchase IS2000 you get free access to all major and minor upgrades and technical support - both for 1 year from the date of purchase. To continue receiving upgrades and support beyond this period, you must purchase Maintenance for IS2000 for every IS2000 Server License you own. If you decide not to purchase the Maintenance Subscription, you can continue to use the product as usual, but you will not have access to upgrades nor to technical support. In the event of there being an issue that requires technical support, you will have to purchase a Maintenance Subscription for the license requiring support before support can be provided.

10. What will Happen if I Purchase (or Renew) a Maintenance Subscription?

Two things will happen if you upgrade:

  1. If your IS2000 Maintenance Subscription has expired and you renew it, you will gain immediate access to all major and minor upgrades to IS2000 for a period of 1 year. You will also get technical assistance for technical support issues for a period of 1 year.
  2. When you upgrade your IS2000 software to the latest version, you will be able to use any new features that may have been released as part of that version. If other technical improvements have been made to IS2000, those too are contained in your upgraded installation of IS2000. Overall, renewing the Maintenance Subscription will help you get the maximum value out of the IS2000 Security Management software.

11. What will Happen to the Old Data?

When you upgrade to a higher version of IS2000, you will need to download the update setup, install it, and run it. The update setup will upgrade your IS2000 Database but will not affect your data. This means you do not lose your data. In fact, the latest version of IS2000 will actually help you manage that data even more efficiently than before!

12. How do I Upgrade my IS2000 Installation?

13. Can an Annual Maintenance Plan be Terminated?

IMRON Corporation is committed to providing the highest possible quality service to all its customers.
